Abstract:

Provided is an oxygen absorber which has ability to absorb oxygen in an atmosphere even if there is no or almost no moisture in the atmosphere. The oxygen absorber contains a metal that is obtained by: subjecting an alloy to a treatment using an aqueous solution of an acid or alkali, said alloy containing (A) at least one transition metal that is selected from the group consisting of manganese group metals, iron group metals, platinum group metals and copper group metals and (B) at least one metal that is selected from the group consisting of aluminum, zinc, tin, lead, magnesium and silicon; and then eluting and removing at least a part of the component (B).
