Description:
IP-PBX WITH EMBEDDED GSM/UMTS INTERFACE

Technical Field

The invention relates to a system providing integrated operation and management service upon combining discrete device Technologies such as PBX, FCT, POS router, GPRS/EDGE/3G modem, VoIP, Security Exchange, IVR, Wi-Fi/Router/Firewall as well as Ethernet multiplexer under a single central control framework.

The invention is particularly relates to an integrated communication saving system eliminating the configuration and alignment problems encountered in the market when devices capable of carrying out each function on their own are connected separately from outside by suffering high costs, as well as enabling provision of installation and service required separately for each and every device, from a single location, in a much faster and cost-efficient manner.

Prior Art

In the existing technique, quite widely-spread technologies are exhibiting such developments to present enterprises with several corporate solutions other than and further to providing solely telephone communication and connections to the Internet. At present, those small- and medium-scale enterprises referred to as the KOBI, are both accrediting their systems so as to benefit from any and all developments in the technology, as well as attempting to minimize the size of their communication expenses.

Today, particularly small- and medium-sized establishments are trying to keep intimate relations with their customers by such communication methods and environments getting ever more complex and diverse. The employees, business partners and clients are communicating with one another by making use of an almost unlimited assortment of such methods like telephone, voice message, e-mail, facsimile, mobile clients as well as media conference. However, these tools are utilized in activities much lower than the benefits they can possibly provide. All of the aforesaid give rise to information pollution and miss-directed information flow, delays in decision making, slowing down of the processes, as well as decrease in efficiency. Whereas in the event they desire to put into operation in their establishments different devices developed for different technologies, they are obliged to inquire whether or not the communication infrastructure is suitable for the subject matter device and almost, every utilization of a new communications technology, they are forced to make changes and innovations within their facilities. Thereupon, the communication expense of the enterprise display an ever increasing trend and yet as the said communications technology is not used in full together with all of its features, it turns into an unnecessary and idle investment. The telephone exchange systems made use of today are experiencing the transition process from traditional telephone exchanges to IP and software-based telephone exchanges using VoIP technology passing voice through a data communications network. Parallel to this, the process of change emerging upon introduction of IP systems is bringing forth as well an integrated communication where voice, data and multimedia applications are interwoven. IP communication solutions are helping enterprises solve their communication problems ^ enabling smooth advance of business processes and thereby reduce their costs.

At the present time, together with the widespread of communications systems, the expectations of the entrepreneurs are likewise increasing, but due to the highness of such cost arising from the integration of different communication equipment to the facilities, majority of the enterprises are not able to use such equipment. Particularly under highlights of works performed by means of establishing an integrated structure upon bringing together different communications technologies with the aim of eliminating the problems, several improvements have been achieved in communications systems. Under highlights of such improvements, several patent applications have been filed, however it is seen that such patent applications are developed to enable integration of specific systems (common usage of 2-3 communication systems) or re directed towards local and specific applications. Methods or equipment with respect to such patent applications are generally those in connection with integrated control systems. For example, Spanish application No ES2171126 with date of publication 16.08.2002 is concerning an integrated control and management equipment for homes and offices and the said application is representing a control device that is capable of assessing and controlling quality of air or data on smoke, light, temperature in any home or office environment via GSM, TCP-IP, SMS or WAP; providing IR communications means for PDA; including a SIM card, microphone, earphone, loudspeaker, touchmatic LCD display and a numeric keyboard. There are encountered several applications in the patent literature similar to such Spanish patent given hereabove to serve merely as an example and in relation to smart/integrated control systems and equipment. Together with the expanse of IP based telephone exchanges, integrated systems where voice, data and multimedia applications are interwoven have likewise become widespread and patent applications with respect to these have also been filed. For instance, Chinese patent application no. CN 1750520 is in relation with a network communications equipment and control method incorporating internal, external lines, as well as Ethernet connection, capable of TCP-IP routing and VoIP, working like IP-PBX. In fact, by means of the subject matter application, actually an IP based telephone Exchange for private subscribers is provided with the subject matter explanation. Combined usage of communications system and particularly VOIP (voice transmission over the Internet Protocol) applications have become widespread and voice transmission at a cost lower than that provided over standard PSTN (telephone network) has been enabled. VoIP communication method applications on GSM and IP telephones are ever increasing day-to-day and work on this issue are continued to be carried out. Chinese application no CN1801981 is related to the method of enabling automatic call transfer to VoIP PSTN whenever VoIP GSM telephone enters Wi-Fi influence area. Yet another application in relation to this issue is the United States application no. US2001/0046215 revealing the method developed for uninterrupted service within any building at the switch-over of wired, wireless, GSM and IP telephones to the GSM and PSTN networks.

As a consequence of fast developments experienced in communications systems, the requirement for any integrated communication system jointly providing technologies of different communication equipment besides the need to use the technologies of such different equipment is far too obvious. Enterprises purchase separately devices with respect to different technologies for different purposes and for that reason; the cost is excessively increasing when each equipments is individually purchased. Besides such a high cost arising due to the individual purchase of each and every equipment, it is not at all times possible in interactive functions that for sound operation of the equipment purchased that software, hardware compatibility, as well as alignment of usage alternatives are enabled. Even when these are possible, naturally the configurations of devices each designed so as to operate independently in relational functions incorporate major difficulties. For that reason, enterprises either are not able to make use of the already existing technology, or fail to use it at the desired extent due to lack of configuration. Further, due to the autonomous operation of the equipment and each being managed individually, such a management becomes both difficult as well as time- consuming and because of the lack of control from a single center, inter-functional extra convenient and useful features that can possibly be created on only singly-controlled systems cannot be provided. By means of management from a single center, the system becomes more flexible and convenient to use, upon utilization of such extra features possessed by different technologies.

In systems where discrete 1 devices incorporating different technologies, as each and every equipment is required to be installed individually, time for such installation is extended, as well as more costly and further, whenever any repair and maintenance is required, since such repair and maintenance services are procured separately for each equipment, they tend to e time consuming, difficult, as well as expensive. As there exists no personal that govern the system as a whole and as the technological infrastructures of the equipment can possibly exert variations, besides any negative outcomes that can be experienced in the course of repair and maintenance of the equipment, it is also probable that other equipment can also be affected. The already high installation costs of such systems installed upon bringing together devices possessing several different technologies, drive the entrepreneurs to make savings at least at the point of communication and yet such equipment included in the system to provide savings are not able to ender the maximum required saving due to managerial deficiencies. In addition, in the subject matter systems every device requires its own power supply unit as well as battery back-up, or any general network UPS (uninterrupted power supply) should be used. Battery back-up for each and every device becomes costly and discharged batteries on different occasions can also give rise to hardships. The cable connections for connecting and integrating the equipment used give rise to a disorderly, cluttered and too-much space consuming outlook.

In the existing technique, on the subject matter systems there is no development at all particularly in connection with POS recovery and communication and POS communication running without audit is realized at a high cost over independent fixed telephone lines (PSTN) . It is possible to operate the POS terminals functioning as Dial- up over PSTN, those having serial interface over GSM by devices directing the serial port to GSM (serial-GSM Gateway). However, these kinds of applications require a change in the configuration of the already existing POS equipment. It is of essence at this point that without necessitating any physical change at all, the owners of the enterprises enable communication over GSM/GPRS by using their already available dial-up POS devices. Such an application can be directed to any remote POS modem by means of a simple relay switching circuitry installed at the subject matter POS, whenever any interruption takes place in GPRS communication. Such a phenomenon cannot be realized in such a fast and simple manner on a POS router connected over the serial interface.

Under highlights of the disadvantages of the applications at known status of the technique referred to hereabove and whenever all previous technical documents as well as the existing applications are studied, it is not possible to observe any application with respect to any integrated, communication system that eliminates the configuration and alignment problems encountered when devices that can perform each and every function separately on its own are interconnected externally at high costs, and enabling the procurement from a single site such service and installation required individually for each device, in a much faster and less costly manner.

As a consequence of the aforesaid, it has necessitated the generation of a development in the related technical field, requirement for a communication system operating between the LAN and WAN Networks, performing with a weight on the mobile network those cellular phone, telecom, POS or VoIP connections as well as Access to the Internet, originating from internal subscribers and capable of selecting the network or service that would provide the most suitable means of communication and the inadequacy of the solutions available in this field.

Also on the main body (38) by means of external line inputs (41), data communication is provided over PSTN. Further, there is included on the main body (38) constituting the integrated physical structure, the USB input (42), SD card input (43) and the sensor (25) in contact with the security unit (14) inside the equipment, as well as data input (44) providing the physical connection with the warning component (26).

The invention is enabling the performance of any and all functions automatically by means of a central microprocessor control unit (15) as well as a signal processing unit (18) included within the equipment. As the system can possibly follow-up its relations by means of single-centered management of such functions that the system can realize by extra features that can be described inter-functionally, it is getting ever smarter. Such a single-centered system management is allowing as well that the remote management thereof is likewise unique. The telephone and POS greeting unit (10) created in order to provide for communication of internal wired/wireless telephones (27) that are connected inside the equipment over internal line inputs (40) with one another as well as with external telecom subscribers (23) ;is being realized in a cost-effective manner by means of a microprocessor control unit (15) controlling all system software and at least one signal processing unit (1.8) without requirement for several hardware peripheral units (Signal Decoder, Signal Generator, Dial Tone Generator, Ring Tone Generator, modem and such similar). The said telephone and POS greeting unit (10) contain a telephone interface for internal wired/wireless telephone (27) connections as well as a telecom interface for realization of external connections and in the event of power cuts provide its energy from the common battery (20) of the system.

By means of the telephone and POS greeting unit (10) as well as POS router- communication software generated inside the equipment, it is enabled that POS transactions are made in a more cost-efficient manner over the mobile network (35). POS connection interface is physically realized without any requirement for an extra hardware connection interface, over the subscriber line telephone interface (SLIC) connected to the internal line inputs (40) providing the existing internal wired/wireless telephone (27) connections used on the PBX structure. POS equipment (28), as if greeted by the remote modem, once again by means of the signal processing unit (18) in the system, is greeted by the modem generated and thus POS greeting operations are completed without requirement for any further extra hardware, as well as no configuration change on the POS device (28). In this way, POS communication is audited by the system and realized at a very low cost over the mobile network (35) and it is possible that POS success rates are reported. The equipment referred to also includes, in place of the internal wired/wireless telephones (27), at least one DECT greeting unit (36), greeting wireless telephones having DECT feature (53) and incorporating circuits inside possessing DECT base station principle. Said DECT greeting unit (36) enables the DECT telephones (53) connected to the equipment talk to one another under PBX logic.

The communication of the equipment with the mobile network (35) is realized over and by means of mobile network access unit (12). The communication of the equipment with the mobile network (35) is realized by GPRS or EDGE or 3G modem included in the mobile network access unit (12). By means of such a unit (12), such data requirements of the system as Internet (29) access, POS communication, and remote management are realized as time-dependent, over the most cost-effective operator. By means of the mobile network communication unit (12), it is enabled at the same time that cellular telephone (24) calls are made with the lowest possible cost over the related GSM operator. By this system, "fixed line-cellular telephone" calls are converted into "cellular telephone-cellular telephone" calls and thus a very large amount of saving is realized. By means of the common microprocessor included in the said control unit (15), such communication operations can possibly be realized with the lowest possible cost by making use of the least number of peripheral units.

In order to realize data communication over a local network that IP telephones (33) or local computers (34) are connected (32); at least one wireless access unit (16) in contact with the control unit (15) inside the equipment and/or at least one wired local access unit (13) in contact with the physical Ethernet input/inputs (39) on the main body (38) has been realized. By means of the Ethernet multiplexer unit (17), the local/remote access and management of the system, Internet utilization, providing increase of capacity, as well as its control and management over the Internet (29) are enabled.

In a preferred application of the invention, a wired or wireless security unit (14) has been established within the equipment. By means of getting connected to the central alarm system with the said unit (14), in the event of generation of an alarm, information can possibly be sent to the identified telephone numbers, or it can operate as a security exchange without requirement for any extra security exchange by means of sensors that can be directly connected thereto (25) (preferably PIR/magnetic sensor) and at least one warning element (26) (siren). Such data arriving at the said unit (14) from the wired or wireless sensor (25) are interpreted by the control unit (15) and thereby the relevant security edge operations are performed. The mobile network access unit (12) inside the equipment, telephone and POS greeting unit (10), wired/wireless access units (13, 16) as well as telecom access unit (21) are connected to at least one control unit (15). Control of the system and data communication is provided by the said control unit (15) and the said signal processing unit (18). The control unit (15) senses automatically the calls arriving from all components connected to the device and transferring the same to the most cost-efficient interface. Thereby, means of communication with the lowest possible cost are provided (LCR feature). The said control unit (15) is enabling the downloading of GSM operators as well as telecom tariffs and possibility to update such data. In addition, the incoming call arriving automatically is voice-greeted by the IVR unit (11), transferred to the related internal line and communication records can possibly be kept. The greeting message, music played during waiting, as well as the records can possibly be remotely sent and received. Despite this, by means of the VoIP application, transmission of voice over the Internet protocol (29) is realized. The system senses from the number keyed-in, enabling its internal subscribers (27) to be connected without charge to the internal subscribers of similar remote systems (23) as if they are connected to a local subscriber. By means of the firewall security application of the said control unit (15), data communication packages of the operations performed can possibly be securely transferred and can be opened to remote access without suffering any sabotage. By means of the power supply unit within the equipment (19) energy supplies required for the operation of the system are provided.
