Title:
PARTIAL AGONIST SPECIFIC TO LXR&agr RECEPTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/092323
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
It is intended to provide a compound which is useful in preventing and treating arteriosclerosis-related diseases because of binding to a receptor as a ligand specific to human liver X receptor &agr (LXR&agr ), i.e., a nuclear receptor, to thereby promote the HDL production in peripheral cells. Namely, a medicinal composition for preventing or treating LXR&agr -related diseases which contains an LXR&agr -selective agonist such as a cyclic bisbenzil compound represented by the following general formula (1), its pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a hydrate thereof. (1) wherein R1, R2 and R3 independently represent each a group selected form among hydrogen, acyl, alkyl and aryl groups, provided that the case where R1 is a methyl group and R2 and R3 are hydrogen atoms is excluded.
