Abstract:

Perfume compositions having fresh, fruity and floral fragrance with a musk note, containing 3,6-disubstituted -&dgr -valerolactones; and 3,6-dicyclopentyl-&dgr -valerolactone. That is, perfume compositions characterized by containing a 3,6-disubstituted-&dgr -valerolactone represented by the general formula [1] and 3,6-dicyclopentyl-&dgr -valerolactone represented by the formula [2]: wherein at least one of R¹ and R² is cyclopentyl, cyclopentenyl, cyclohexyl, or cyclohexenyl; and when only one of R¹ and R² is such a cyclic group, the other is C_1-10 alkyl, C_2-10 alkenyl, C_2-10 alkynyl, C_6-10 aryl, aralkyl, or alkylaryl.
