Title:
PRECURSOR OF POWDER-METHOD Nb3Sn SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE ROD, AND POWDER-METHOD Nb3Sn SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE ROD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/102517
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention provides a precursor of a powder-method Nb3Sn superconducting
wire rod, which, even in a relatively low practical temperature of about 600 to
750°C, can improve Nb3Sn production reaction efficiency and
can realize excellent supercondutive properties, and a powder-method Nb3Sn
superconducting wire rod. The precursor of a powder-method Nb3Sn
superconducting wire rod is produced by filling a powder of a raw material containing
at least Sn into a sheath containing at least Nb, subjecting the assembly to diameter
reduction working to prepare a wire rod, and then heat treating the wire rod to
form a superconducting layer at the interface of the sheath and the powder. The
raw material powder contains a Cu component, and the sheath is formed of a composite
of Nb or an Nb-base alloy part and Cu or a Cu-base alloy part.
