Abstract:
A process for producing an Nb3Al superconductive wire rod, comprising providing an Nb3Al superconductive wire rod obtained by subjecting a precursor wire rod of extrafine multi-core structure having multiple Nb/Al composite core wires embedded in Nb, Ta, an Nb based dilute alloy or a Ta based dilute alloy as a matrix to rapid heating rapid cooling treatment comprising rapidly heating to a temperature zone of about 2000°C within 2 sec and rapidly cooling at a rate of 2000°C/sec or higher to a temperature zone of 400°C or below, and subjecting the Nb3Al superconductive wire rod to: (A) coating with Cu or Ag as a stabilization material; (B) hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment conducted for 10 min or more in an inert gas atmosphere under a pressure of 40 atm or higher; and (C) heat treatment conducted at 680 to 850°C for 1 to 200 hr to thereby obtain an Nb3Al extrafine multi-core superconductive wire rod. This process for producing an Nb3Al superconductive wire rod realizes relatively low cost, enables producing both round wire and rectangular wire and attains enhanced stabilization of superconducting performance. There is further described the Nb3Al superconductive wire rod produced by the process.
