Description:
DESCRIPTION

A PACKAGE WITH A POCKET FOR DISPOSING WASTE SHELLS TO BE USED IN PACKAGING OF SHELLED NUTS

Subject of the Invention

The invention particularly relates to a package with a pocket for disposing waste nutshells during consumption, which has been developed for packaging of shelled assorted nuts.

State of The Art Today, it is guite common to consume nuts outside the houses, i.e. in parks, gardens, streets, etc. The consumption of these foods, which are good for health, especially of the ones with shells, may be difficult since an additional container or bag is reguired for collecting the nutshells. In particular, throwing away the wastes of the shelled foods consumed in open areas increases environmental pollution.

There exists a need for providing waste chambers supplemented to the packages for collecting the shells therein in order to prevent the environmental pollution resulting from throwing away the shells of these shelled foods, consumed mostly in outer environments.

In the state of the art, waste bags for nuts have been developed in order to overcome these problems regarding shelled nut production.

The Utility Model Application No. TR 2003/02052 is an example of such embodiments within the state of the art. This application relates to a waste bag for shelled nuts, wherein it discloses the presentation of nut packages to the consumer together with these waste bags. Said waste bag, one side of which is provided with an adhesive surface, is used by being attached to the nut package during consumption. However, the use of said package may be rather inconvenient for the consumer, as will be understood upon examining the product according to said invention. It fails to present a quick- response use as required for the shelled nuts, which are fast consumption products, during consumption. Moreover, it is hazardous to the environment since it leads to extra bag consumption .

Another example for the current uses of the packages used for shelled foods is the Utility Model Application No. TR 2005/03641, wherein a package with a waste bag for shelled foods is disclosed. This invention consists of a cylindrical container which is made of paper or paper-like materials and the bottom surface of which is made of aluminium, a waste bag which is disposed within said cylindrical container in a folded manner, and a cover disposed on the cylindrical container. Although developed for facilitating the consumption of shelled nuts, this food package fails to present an effective use in that the use of the waste bag, which is positioned in the box for collecting the waste shells, will be inconvenient for the consumer.

In addition to waste bag applications, the waste chambers incorporated into the package are also used. The Patent Application Nos. CN 105460359 and CN 1506280 are among other examples that may be given as regards to the state of the art, wherein a packaging bag with a shell collection function is disclosed. In these applications, while the nuts are contained in one portion of the packaging bag, the other portion is for collecting the shells. Nevertheless, the packaging bags of such application are not reusable and the sizes of the portions which are used for waste chambers cannot be configured in a way to satisfy the user.

As a result, there exists a need for developing a food package which allows storing shelled nuts and which, during consumption, collects the shells without requiring a separate collecting chamber apart from the package itself.

Detailed Description of the Invention

The invention relates to a food package which permits storing shelled nuts and which, at the same time, has been developed for collecting the waste shells which are formed during the consumption of these nuts. The present package provides a portion incorporated into the package, said portion eliminating the requirement for a separate shell collecting chamber, and thus serving for collecting the waste shells of the nuts during consumption.

The present invention is a package which comprises a pocket portion (2) presented with a space for collecting the waste shells in at least one of the front, rear, or side surfaces of the main body (1) . Said pocket portion (2) is integrated with the food package according to the invention and is disposed within the inner portion of the package and exposed when the package is opened. The pocket portion (2) presents a chamber connected to the main body (1) of the package.

In an embodiment of the invention, the package has a rectangular form, wherein at least one of the large surfaces of the package is provided with a pocket portion (2) which is formed according to the shape of the package, typically in rectangular form. The form of the pocket portion (2) described above may be any shape suited for the package configuration, or optionally any other shape than that of the package configuration as desired. The pocket portion (2) according to the invention is disposed within the inner portion of the package and upon the package being opened, it stretches as freed from the tension, thereby presenting the required space for throwing the shells thereinto.

Fig. 1 of the invention shows the pocket portion (2) and the main body (1) of the package in open state, and the region on the main body (1) on which the pocket portion (2) is positioned .

Fig. 2 of the invention shows the surface of the package which preferably contains the pocket portion (2) .

Just as the shelled nut package described in the invention may be of any size and form, the pocket portion (2) of the package may have varying forms in accordance with the size of the package. In an embodiment of the invention, the pocket portion (2) has a rectangular form, being distanced from the lower and upper boundaries and from the right and left boundaries, 4 cm and 1.5 cm, respectively.

During the production of the food package developed for shelled nuts according to the invention, the two layers are laminated partially, a space being provided for the pocket portion (2) . In other words, the inner portions serving as an empty inner chamber are formed as a result of laminating the regions of the package according to invention which are desired to be formed as the pocket portion (2) in a way to leave them free of glue. Said pocket portion (2) in the form of an empty space is exposed and used once the package is opened for use.

The layers used in the production of the present package comprise transparent, metalized, white, or hologram forms of polyolefin (polypropylene, polyethylene, etc.) and polyester as well as flexible packaging materials like polyamide, aluminium and/or paper. These materials vary in thickness between 4.5 microns and 150 microns according to their properties.

The main body (1) of the food package described in the invention comprises two or more layers while the pocket portion (2) separated from the main body (1) for creating a space comprises one or more layers. The lamination of these layers may be performed using glue with or without solvent or water-based glue; moreover, PE extrusion may be applied for lamination except for the layer constituting the pocket portion ( 2 ) .

Further, the opening region of the food package is provided with cuts by means of notch, laser cut, or mechanical perforation techniques, thereby facilitating the opening of the main body (1) and pocket portion (2) incorporated by the package .

Consequently, the invention relates to a food package developed for shelled nuts which comprises a pocket portion (2) for collecting waste shells while consuming said nuts, and to the production method of such package. In brief, the production method according to the invention is characterized by comprising the steps of leaving the regions of the layers to constitute the pocket portion (2) and the main body (1) to be used as the pocket free of glue, and said regions forming an empty space during the lamination. Also with the invention, the packaged shelled nut consumption is made more comfortable and convenient thanks to the configuration of the package described herein, without requiring the use of a means for collecting the shells such as waste bags, waste containers.
