Abstract:
A packaging component and packaging system are disclosed. In an embodiment specifically adapted as a system for packaging vehicular radiators (30), the invention provides a generally planar tray member component as a blank (10) having two opposed sides (15), with a portion of each opposed side (17) being foldable out of the plane of the tray member (10) to yield arms (25) to the tray (10). Strapping (38) is supplied which is engageable with the arms (25) when the arms (25) are folded upon the radiator (30) placed upon the tray member (10). Opposed ends (17) for the tray member (10) have a portion which is likewise foldable out of the plane of the tray member (10), yielding legs to the tray (10) when so folded. The packaging system can include at least one stand-off element (52) mountable on one of the radiator (30) and the tray member (10) operating as a spacer and positioner relative to a container within which the tray member (10) is received with the stand-off element (52) mounted in place.
