Abstract:
This exhaust system component comprises a metal substrate and one layer of a surface coating layer which is formed on the surface of the substrate, wherein the surface coating layer comprises an amorphous inorganic material layer containing silica, particles of a crystalline inorganic material containing zirconia which is dispersed inside the amorphous inorganic material layer, reaction produced particles which are produced by the reaction of the particles of the crystalline inorganic material and the amorphous inorganic material layer, and pores. The reaction produced particles are granular or needle type particles, the ratio of the mean pore size of the pores with respect to the mean particle size of the particles of the crystalline inorganic material (mean particle size of the particles of the crystalline inorganic material/ mean pore size of the pores) is 0.1-10, and the surface coating layer is formed by coating the substrate with a paint for an exhaust system component including the amorphous inorganic material, a pore forming material and the particles of the crystalline inorganic material and heating the same.
