Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a paper currency identifying device in which the orientation of a conveying direction of any paper currency (S) is corrected and the driving for conveying the paper currency (S) by moving the paper currency (S) to a predetermined position in the conveying path can be carried out using a shared drive source, even when paper currency (S) of a plurality of width types is inserted into a paper currency insertion slot. Consequently, the device has: a pair of drive-side helical gears (33a, 33b) fixed to a drive shaft (32) and provided in a manner symmetrical to the direction of the rotating helical teeth; moving-side helical gears (35a, 35b) that mesh with the pair of drive-side helical gears (33a, 33b), follow the rotation of the drive shaft (32), and are provided so as to be able to move freely in the longitudinal center direction of a driven shaft (34); and a paper currency position guiding mechanism (30) configured from paper currency guides (36a, 36b) that respectively abut against the pair of moving-side helical gears (35a, 35b) so to be interlocked with the movement thereof, and clamp the conveyed paper currency (S) from the right and left thereof and guide the paper currency (S) along the center direction of a paper currency conveying unit.
