Abstract:
A paper discriminating device is configured such that a directional dictionary image for each edge is generated based on an edge domain detected from each learning image and an edge direction in the edge domain using the learning image which is an image taken from an authentic paper; a remaining edge domain which lies only in an input image is extracted by comparing the input image which is an image taken from the paper to be discriminated with the directional dictionary image; the density of the remaining edge domain in a given area domain is detected; and the usable discrimination and kind discrimination are implemented.
