A paper machine control device capable of preventing by means of a simple and low-cost configuration problems such as hunting by mutual interference between a retention control and an in-paper ash content control even when the both controls are performed at a short control frequency in a paper machine, and controlling a retention and an ash content with a good accuracy A retention and an in-paper ash content in at least wet part (2a) are controlled by an automatic control system (3) in a papermachine (1). This automatic control system (3) comprises a feedback loop for automatically controlling the retention, a feedback loop for automatically controlling the in-paper ash content, and a non-interference control unit (30) incorporated between the both feedback loops so as to cancel out effects by the mutual interference between the both feedback loops.
