Abstract:
In a paper roll loading mechanism (2) for a printer (1), a slide frame (25) is fitted to a lid frame (23) for opening and closing its opening (22b), and these frames are made rotatable by a cover frame (28) in the opening/closing directions. A platen roller (26) is rotatably fitted to the fore end of the slide frame (25), so that, after the opening (22b) of the roll paper loading section is blocked by the lid frame (23), the cover frame (28) can be further rotated by itself, and this rotating motion slides the slide frame (25) forward to enable the platen roller (269 at its fore end to be positioned in a position opposite to an ink jet head (8) while keeping a fixed gap between them. As the rotating radius of the part to open and close the opening (22b) of the paper roll loading section can be reduced by increasing a sliding distance for the slide frame (25), the space above the opening (22b) can be effectively utilized to accommodate other parts or the like. Therefore, a paper roll loading mechanism for printers, of which the opening/closing mechanism of the paper roll loading section can be compactly configured, can be provided.
