Abstract:
This paper sheet handling device is provided with: a conveying path by which a paper sheet inserted from an insertion hole is taken to a feed position and fed from the feed position into the interior of the device; an uptake mechanism provided to the conveying path, the uptake mechanism having a conveying belt for coming into contact with the paper sheet in a bent state and transporting the paper sheet as well as a plurality of rotating bodies for supporting the conveying belt in the bent state, and the uptake mechanism taking the paper sheet inserted from the insertion hole to the feed position; a feed mechanism having a first feed roller disposed at the feed position, and a second feed roller disposed between the conveying belt and the feed position in the direction in which the paper sheet is conveyed, the feed mechanism feeding the paper sheet transported to the feed position by the uptake mechanism; and a control unit for controlling the uptake mechanism and the feed mechanism. When an action, in which the uptake mechanism has driven the conveying belt for a prescribed period of time and a paper sheet is taken up to the feed position, has been performed for a prescribed number of times, and, subsequently, no paper sheets have been taken to the feed position, the control unit controls the feed mechanism so as to feed the paper sheet inserted from the insertion hole.
