A paper sheet handing device according to the present invention is characterized by having a control unit for bidirectionally conveying paper sheets on a conveyance path and being provided with a plurality of storages for storing the paper sheets in a cash box as a lower mechanism, and a third conveyance path for conveying the paper sheets conveyed from the storages to an upper mechanism through holes formed on an upper surface and an front surface of the cash box, and characterized in that as the upper mechanism, an upper paper sheet mechanism having a withdrawal opening portion for outputting the paper sheets, a first discrimination portion, and a first conveyance path that connects the withdrawal opening portion and the first discrimination portion and is extended downwards can be replaced with an upper bill mechanism equipped with a deposit and withdrawal opening portion for inputting and outputting the paper sheets, a second discrimination portion, a temporary depository for temporarily storing the paper sheets, and a second conveyance path that connects the deposit and withdrawal opening portion, the second discrimination portion, and the temporary depository and is extended downwards.
