Abstract:
The present invention is provided with: a separation roller (16) that comes into contact with paper currency which is accumulated in a repository for depositing paper currency and which is then fed from the repository; and a feed roller (17) that is disposed so as to come into contact with the separation roller (16) and that rotates with respect to the stopped separation roller (16) to separate and transport paper currency one bill at a time. The separation roller (16) is configured such that at the repository side opposite the contact portion which comes into contact with the feed roller (17), the entire area of the circumferential surface facing the feed roller (17) is exposed so as to directly contact paper currency advancing from the repository, and both ends (16b) in the axial direction are formed of a material having a lower coefficient of friction than the center section (16a), the diameters of both ends (16b) being equal to the diameter of the center section (16a).
