Abstract:
Disclosed is a parallax barrier filter that is much brighter than prior barrier-type filters. A plurality of aperture portions (12) are aligned equidistantly at inclines upon a five-way parallax type parallax barrier filter (10). The aperture portions (12) are treated as being rectangular, having a uniform shape and a uniform area, and the aperture width as 2-2.5 times the subpixel width given conditions wherein the aperture height is 8/7 the subpixel height, Ht = 8/7 Hsp. When the pitch of the plurality of aperture portions (12) in the horizontal x-axis direction is treated as Pt and the degree of misalignment between the aperture portions (12) in the vertical y-axis direction is designated Dtr, the positional relation between adjacent aperture portions (12) is based on the formulae Pt = 5·Wsp and Dtr = (5/7)·Wsp.
