Abstract:
A parking assist apparatus is provided with: a detection unit that detects a parking enabling region in a region around a vehicle; a route calculation unit that calculates a parking guidance route for guiding the vehicle from a current position of the vehicle to a parking target position included in the parking enabling region; and a control unit that guides the vehicle to the parking target position according to the parking guidance route and completes the guidance upon the vehicle reaching the parking target position by assuming a predetermined posture in the parking enabling region, while, if the vehicle has stopped before reaching the parking target position when advancing into the parking enabling region in the predetermined posture, varying a completion postponement period before vehicle guidance is completed depending on the stopping manner of the vehicle.
