Abstract:
Provided is a particle separation apparatus (1) that separates charged particles (92p) and (92n) from gas containing the charged particles (92p) and (92n) and flowing in a prescribed direction. The particle separation apparatus (1) comprises: a first electrode (10) that is provided with a plurality of first electrode elements (12) arrayed in an arrangement direction different from the prescribed direction; a second electrode (20) that is provided with a plurality of second electrode elements (22) arrayed in the arrangement direction and facing the first electrode (10); and a potential application circuit (traveling wave generation circuit (8)) that applies, to each of the plurality of first electrode elements (12) and second electrode elements (22), a potential for generating, between the first electrode (10) and the second electrode (20), a transporting electric field that transports the charged particles (92p) and (92n) in a direction that is different from the prescribed direction.
