Abstract:
A particulate filter according to the present invention is provided with: a base material 10 having a wall flow structure; and wash coat layers 20 held inside partition walls 16 of the base material 10. The wash coat layers 20 are each provided with an inlet layer 22 formed with a prescribed thickness TA and a prescribed length LA from near the end on an exhaust gas inlet side X1, and an outlet layer 24 formed with a prescribed thickness TB and a prescribed length LB from near the end on an exhaust gas outlet side X2, and the inlet side 22 and the outlet side 24 partially overlap each other. The inlet layer 22 of the particulate filter contains a precious metal catalyst, while the outlet layer 24 does not contain any substantial amount of a precious metal catalyst. The length LA of the inlet layer is 50%-75% of the total length L of each of the partition walls 16. Accordingly, the particulate filter can simultaneously achieve PM collection performance and pressure loss suppression performance at high levels.
