Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a passenger compartment illumination device capable of causing light from a light source to be uniformly diffused over a wide area with high efficiency, thereby achieving optimum uniformity of luminance with use of a small number of light sources. This passenger compartment illumination device (12) is equipped with: an interior trim body (15) that has an illumination window (21); a light source (18); a plate-like light guide member (19) wherein light incident on a light incident surface (19a) for receiving light from a light source (18) is diffusely reflected inside of the light guide member and emitted from a light-emitting surface (19e); a concave part (22) having a U-shaped cross-section and disposed on the light incident surface (19a) so as to face the light source (18); and multiple total-reflection cut surfaces (23) that are disposed at positions on both sides of the concave part (22) of the light incident surface (19a) and arranged in steps so as to descend in sequence from the concave part (22) side toward the outside, thereby causing the light entering the light guide member (19) from the concave part (22) into to be diffusely reflected toward the inside of the light guide member (19). The light-emitting surface (19e) of the light guide member (19) is arranged so as to match the illumination window (21) of the interior trim body (15).
