Abstract:
Provided is a passenger conveyor safety device that does not consume energy to unite a separable protective body. The safety device (8) comprises a protective body (10), a detector, and a cover part. A moving handrail (6) of a passenger conveyor (1) moves in a circuit. The protective body (10) covers the moving handrail (6) on the outer periphery. The protective body (10) is divided by a notch (14) so that a first end (12) is opened. The notch (14) extends from the first end (12) to the side of the direction in which the moving handrail (6) advances. The first end (12) is the end on the upstream side in the direction of advancement. The detector detects displacement of the protective body (10) in the direction of advancement. The cover part covers and presses the outer periphery of the first end (12) of the protective body (10) from the upstream side in the direction of advancement so that the first end (12) does not open.
