Abstract:
This passenger conveyor is equipped with a comb (6), which is provided to a floor portion of a platform and has a plurality of comb teeth (6b) meshing with cleats (1a) of steps. The comb (6) has: a light transmissive inner layer (7); and an outer layer (8) which covers the inner layer (7), and comprises a material that is less likely to allow light to pass therethrough than the inner layer (7). The inner layer (7) has a plurality of comb-teeth inner layer portions (7b) located within the comb teeth (6b). A breakage detection device (12) for detecting breakage of the comb teeth (6b) has a light detector (9) which detects the outside light incident on the inner layer (7) due to the loss of the outer layer (8) caused by the breakage of the comb teeth (6b).
