Title:
PASSENGER ELEVATOR ADAPTED FOR WHEELCHAIRS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/000182
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
This invention is about a lift cabin that has a protrusions (11, 12) in the hall opposite to the door lift and where the back wheels (7) are going to fit. However the standard area for the people is the same. Adding this protrusions (11, 12), to a standard lift for four persons, the new lift can carry a person in a wheel chair (5).

Description:
Passemger elevator adapted for wheelchairs The people in wheel chair in their daily displacement-have several impediments in the present buildings.

One of this impediment are the lifts. Most of the buildings have a lift with a maximal capacity for four person's, what means the lift has an area, where five persons can pot fit inside the lift.

The concept is to impose a maximal lift area that is going to control the weight inside the lift.

The problem is that the area of the lift is to. small and it does not fit a wheel chair. The option is to increase the area of the lift, but that-will be able to go more people in the lift and so surpass the maximal weight.

There are lifts with a capacity for six people and in this ones there is enough area to fit a wheel chair..

However this lift are more expensive and the maintenance and the consumption of electricity are more expensive then a lift whit a capacity for four person.

This invention is to overcome the present prior of art.

It is an object of the present invention, to built a lift with the maximal capacity for four person, but the lift has room enough to carry a person in a wheel chaire The drawings are the following.

Figure 1-Standard foar people lift.

Figure 9-Scemåtlc drawing of a wheel chair.

Figure 3-Lift with the concepts of this invention.. View from the top.

Figure 4-Lift box with the concepts of this invention.

View from the side.

Figure 5-Lift with the concepts of this invention, but in another version. View from the top.

Figure 6-Wheel chair'ins'ide a lift, due to the'concepts'of this invention.

In figure one, there is draw a lift box (1) with a capacity for four people.

The buildings-have a room (2) built with concrete and bricks. where is installed the lift'box (. 1). The elevator door'has the reference, with the letter A.

The size of the room (2-) in the bulding is in relation with the size of the lift box (1).

In this figure is draw the balanced weight (3) of the lift and the rails (4).

If it is a lift with a capacity for six people, the lift box has to be bigger and also the room to fit the lift.

In figure two there is a wheel chair., with the following components. The seat (5), the front wheels (6), the back wheels (7). Between the back wheels (7), there is a free space (8)-The wheel chair has two rest for the feet., that stay ahead the front wheels (6), but they are not draw in this figure.

In figure three there is a lift box (9) with the same size of the lift box but it has protrusions (II) opposite the elevator door, where the back wheels (7), can fit. In this figure the elevator door has the reference, with the letter B.

With the concept of this invention, the lift box (9) has a maximal area, that it is able to fit four persons, but it has an-addItional protrusions (11) and in this way, the back' wheels (7) get in this protrusions (11) and so. the wheel . chair fits in a standard four person lift.

There is no need that this protrusions (11), are very height. They can have. a little more height then the height of back wheels (7). The back wheel chair (7), has a diameter of 0, 63 metre. Althought this diameter can vary from one manufacture to another.

Th-e oposite wall of the elevator door, has a mirror. This mirror begins at 1, 25 metre from the floor.

The protrusions (11) can have a height of 0, 75 metre, allowing toleration, to fit the back wheels (7). In this way this-wall can continue to-have the mirror. So this protrusions (11) does not damage the decoration of the lift.

This protrusions (11) can have doors, that are closed due to a spring. When a person in a wheel chair needs to use the lift., the rear wheels (7) pushes the doors..,, and so the doors are opened- This protrusions (11) doors can be open by an handle, by an electric mechanism or by a special button, or by remote control, or by a private key, that only the people in wheelchair have.

The handle, or the special button, etc can be near the button that calls the lift, or inside the lift, near to the standard fT. oar buttons The electric wheel chair have a different rear shape, and so the protrusions (11) can be bigger and with different shape.

In the figure four there is the outline. of a cabin lift with the concepts of this invention.

The lift cabin (9) is bigger, but the additional weight slight heavier. The room lift (10) has to be bigger.

The net weight does not increase-, there is Dust a slight increase in the tare.

In the figure five., the same concept of this invention, but the difference in the hall of the lift is the following-one.

There is only one protrusion (12),. that goes for all the wail of the lift. The area' (13') of this lift-, is equal to the lifts (1) and (9), that it only fits four persons.

The protrusion (12) has the same height that the ones of figure three and so this cabin lift (13), has the-same generic shape that the one. of figure four In figure four and five, the arrow indicates the lift door.

In the figure six, there is a wheel chair inside a cabin lift for four people, but it is able to fit wheel chair due to the protrusion (11) or (12).

The maxim wight lift capacity can'be controlled by sensors.

If there is more wight the s-nssrs will not allow to move the lift. This sensors can be switch on, when the protrusion (11) or (12) are opened.

The. buildings already. built., It Is 1-n. most situations difficult to increase the size of the room, in the side of the balanced weight. Although it can be possible to increase the size of the room, by the side of the door.
