Title:
PASSIVE Q-SWITCH PULSE LASER DEVICE, PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND MEDICAL APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/221083
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
[Problem] To enable inhibition of an increase in pulse width and a decrease in peak intensity in a pulse laser, and to enable generation of a pulse laser that exhibits a stable polarization direction while achieving downsizing of an optical resonator and a laser device, in the case where an amorphous material is employed as a base material for a laser medium. [Solution] The present invention provides a passive Q-switch pulse laser device that is provided with: a laser medium which is disposed between a pair of reflection means constituting an optical resonator and which, upon being excited by specific excitation light, releases emission light; a saturable absorber which is disposed between the pair of reflection means so as to be positioned on the optical axis of the optical resonator and on the downstream side of the laser medium, and the transmission factor of which increases in association with absorption of the emission light, wherein at least one of the pair of the reflection means is a polarizing element, and the polarizing element exhibits different reflectances with respect to emission light in mutually orthogonal polarization directions.
