Title:
PATHOGEN RESISTANT CARBIDE SURGICAL TOOLS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2004016290
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
A surgical tool is provided fabricated from nickel binder tungsten carbide wherein the surgical tool maintains the integrity of the cutting edge for periods longer than prior art materials. The surface porosity of nickel carbide provides cutting edges within surgical tools that are resistant to corrosion and pathogen attachment or entrapment. Additionally, surgical tools fabricated from materials such as nickel carbide produce a tool having superior tactile qualities.
