Abstract:
Provided is a pearlite rail formed from steel comprising, by mass%, C: 0.65 to 1.20%, Si: 0.05 to 2.00%, Mn: 0.05 to 2.00%, P < 0.0150%, S < 0.0100%, and Ca: 0.005 to 0.200%, as well as Fe and inevitable impurities as the balance, wherein the rail head corner and the rail head surface, which is defined as a depth of up to 10 mm starting from the surface of the head, are a pearlite structure; the pearlite structure has a hardness Hv of 320 to 500; and Mn sulfide inclusions having a major axis of 10 to 100 µm are present in the amount of 10 to 200 inclusions/mm2 per unit surface area in an arbitrary cross section in the lengthwise direction of the pearlite structure.
