Title:
PEDESTRIAN COLLISION DETECTION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/128971
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a pedestrian collision detection device such that an improvement can be made in pedestrian detection performance in the vicinity of a bumper corner. The pedestrian collision detection device (10) is equipped with a chamber member (20) wherein a pressure detection device (24) is disposed. An ECU (26) is connected to the pressure detection device (24). An end section (20A) of the chamber member (20) is bent in a bumper corner (12A) portion in such a way as to cover a vehicle widthwise outer end face (14B) of a bumper reinforcement (14). If a load not lower than a predetermined value is input, during a collision, into the end section (20A) of the chamber member (20) from a bumper cover (18), the end section (20A) is subjected to a reaction force of the bumper reinforcement (14), thereby undergoing compressive deformation inward in the vehicle width direction, with the result that the pressure in the chamber of the chamber member (20) changes.
