Abstract:
Provided is a pencil sharpener which has a large capacity for containing pencil shavings and which is configured so that a pencil-shaving box does not become detached and fall while the pencil sharpener is carried by the user. A pencil sharpener (100) comprises a closed-end container member (110) having no lid and also comprises a lid member (120) for covering and sealing the opening (111) of the container member (110). An insertion hole (123) for inserting a pencil is provided in one side section (122) of the lid member. A pencil holding section (30), a rotary blade (40) which sharpens the pencil, and a cylinder (50) which holds the rotary blade in a rotatable manner are arranged below the lid member. A handle (27) is provided on the other side section (124) of the lid member. Substantially the entire containing region of the container member is utilized as the pencil-shaving box, and as a result, the pencil sharpener has a large capacity for containing pencil shavings. Also, since the container member is sealed by the lid member, there is no possibility of pencil shavings falling out due to the pencil-shaving box becoming detached while the pencil sharpener is carried by the user.
