Abstract:
The invention relates to new biologically active compounds and more particularly to peptides exhibiting neuroprotective and normalising activity. Proposed is a use of a hexapeptide (1) of the structural formula threonyl-glycyl-glutamyl-homoserinyl-histidyl-arginyl-amide (Thr-Gly-Glu-Hse-His-Arg-NH2), as a neuroprotective and normalising agent. Also proposed is a new composition of a peptide-based pharmaceutical formulation containing a hexapeptide (2.5 g/l) as the active ingredient, a preservative in the form of Nipagin (1.0 g/l), and sodium chloride (10.0 g/l), with distilled water as the remainder. The composition is highly effective in low doses and is easy to use: application is in the form of nasal drops. The proposed pharmaceutical formulation can be used in medicine for the prevention and treatment of Parkinson's disease.
