Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus which enables an operator of a work machine to intuitively recognize motion of objects, such as people, present in the periphery of said work machine at an appropriate timing from the viewpoint of determining an operational mode of the work machine. A work machine periphery monitoring apparatus (100) according to the present invention defines at least a portion of a plurality of object spaces (S1)-(S6) as a "first designated object space" in accordance with an operational mode of a work machine (200) predicted on the basis of the state of an operation performed by an operator of an operating device (400) on the work machine (200). When the position of an object is included in the first designated object space, an alarm is outputted by a first designated output device disposed in a direction corresponding to the direction of the first designated object space with respect to the work machine (200), on the basis of the whereabouts of the operator in an operational space of the work machine (200). Said alarm is differentiated depending on how the relative position between the work machine (200) and the object changes.
