Abstract:
The outer peripheral surface (25) of a rotor is constituted by a first arc (29) and a second arc (31). The first arc is located at the center of a magnetic pole and the second arc is located at an inter-pole section; the first arc expands radially, further outside than the second arc. An air gap (15) is formed increasing in size from the center of each of the magnetic poles toward the adjacent inter-pole sections. The radially-outside hole-forming section of a magnet insertion hole has the curve of a third arc (33) and the radially-inside hole-forming section of the magnet insertion hole has the curve of a fourth arc (35). The opening angle of a tooth tip (7a), the opening angle of the first arc, and the opening angle of the third arc are equal to each other.
