The present invention provides a permanent magnet motor sy stem which eliminates the need for disconnection between a motor shaft end and a load-side device, saves time and labor for readjustment when a motor or a control device is changed, and also prevents the magnetic pole position from deviating under the influence of reluctance torque. This permanent magnet motor system is provided with a permanent magnet motor, an encoder fitted to the motor shaft thereof, and a motor controller for drivably controlling the permanent magnet motor, wherein said motor system is characterized in being provided with a detecting element for reading an induced voltage developed in the stator winding of the permanent magnet motor by revolution of the motor shaft, the motor controller being provided with a control unit for generating a reset signal when a read induced voltage indicates a prescribed value or a prescribed chan ge, so that rotating of the motor shaft using a means different from the stator winding in which an induced voltage develops resets the encoder using the reset signal to adjust the magnetic pole position.
