Abstract:
Provided is an outer rotor type permanent magnet synchronous motor which has a larger torque density and output density. The outer rotor type permanent magnet synchronous motor comprises: stators (2A, 2B) having armatures secured directly to a fixed shaft (23) or through a non-magnetic support member (22); and rotors (3A, 3B) having a field system constituted by a permanent magnet on the inner surface of a bracket (4) rotatably supported by the fixed shaft (23) through a bearing member (5). The rotors (3A, 3B) are disposed opposite each other respectively through air gaps (G1 - G3) on the radial plane on the outer diameter side of the armatures (2A, 2B) and on the axial plane on both sides of the armatures (2A, 2B). The armatures (2A, 2B) are configured to generate a rotating field which has the same temporal and spatial polarity while the rotors (3A, 3B) are configured to generate a magnetic field which has the same spatial polarity. A torque and a rotating output in the same rotational direction are created with three air gaps including the air gap on the radial plane side and the two air gaps on the axial plane.
