The present invention provides a permanent magnet three-phase duplex motor capable of ensuring, when one system fails, motor performance equivalent to that in a normal time without increasing the size of the motor, and an electric power steering device equipped with the permanent magnet three-phase duplex motor. A permanent magnet three-phase duplex motor of the present invention has two systems prepared, one a system including a first three-phase winding and a first inverter circuit and the other a system including a second three-phase winding and a second inverter circuit. A control device is configured so as to, when one of the systems fails, stop the operation of the inverter circuit in the failed system and control the operation of the inverter circuit in the normal system to increase the drive current supplied from the inverter circuit in the normal system. The first three-phase winding and the second three-phase winding are configured so that when supplied with the increased drive current from the inverter circuit in the normal system, a magnetic field acting in a direction that demagnetizes the permanent magnet becomes equivalent to a magnetic field acting in a direction that demagnetizes the permanent magnet in the normal time.
