Title:
PEROXIDE-DEGRADING CATALYST
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/000956
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a catalyst capable of degrading a peroxide at a low temperature, at low cost and with good efficiency, without causing the generation of free radical. A peroxide-degrading catalyst containing a base metal atom, the catalyst having a value A which represents an amount of free radical generation represented by Formula 1 of 0.20 or lower and a value B which represents a reaction rate represented by Formula 2 of 60 or higher. A = (Mw(S)/Mw) - 1 (Formula 1) wherein Mw represents a weight average molecular weight of poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) determined after the hydrogen peroxide degradation test performed at 80ºC in the presence of the poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate); and Mw(S) represents a weight average molecular weight of the poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) determined before the test; and B = N(po)/N(cat) (Formula 2) wherein N(po) represents the number of moles of hydrogen peroxide degraded during the period of 20 minutes in the hydrogen peroxide degradation test as defined with respect to Formula 1; and N(cat) represents the number of moles of the catalyst used in the test in terms of the metal atom.
