Abstract:

The present invention provides a pet food that is highly appetising for pets and formulated using nutritionally balanced ingredients with the health of the pet in mind, and a manufacturing method for the pet food. The present invention is a pet food manufacturing method which includes a step for pelleting a mixture of ingredients to obtain food pellets, and a step for baking the food pellets, wherein the baking temperature is preferably a temperature at which pyrazines are generated in the food pellets. Furthermore, the pyrazine content of the baked food pellets is preferably at least 0.10 ppm greater than the pyrazine content of the food pellets prior to baking. Examples of pyrazines included in the food pellets include: 2,5-dimethylpyrazine; 2,6-dimethylpyrazine; and/or 2,3,5-trimethylpyrazine. Furthermore, it is preferable to bake using far-infrared radiation.
