Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating muscle diseases, the composition containing a ginseng berry (Panax ginseng berry) extract as an active ingredient. The composition, according to the present invention, may be usefully employed for preventing, improving or treating muscle diseases by mitigating the reduction of muscle mass and the muscle fiber cross-sectional area caused by muscle atrophy, and by mitigating an increase in the expressions of muscle RING-finger protein-1 (MuRF-1) and atrogin-1 which are involved in muscle proteolysis.
