Title:
PHASE CONTRAST RADIOGRAPHIC METHOD INTENDED MAINLY FOR MEDICO-BIOLOGICAL OBJECTS, AND DEVICE FOR APPLYING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1998/032005
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to new methods designed to produce radiological imagery showing the inner structure of low absorption objects, including medico-biological objects. Unlike traditional imagery methods for soft tissues, in which contrast agents are used, the inventive phase image methods, based on the reflection of a nearly flat wave, enable sufficiently contrasted images of soft tissues to be obtained. Low diverging X-ray beams are used to illuminate an object, the image of which is formed by a Bragg reflection on a perfect monocrystal-sensor. In the methods based on base ratio recording, the parameters, the mutual orientation, the setting and accurate maintaining of the angle position of all circuit components as well as their sophistication dramatically improve the picture quality. The invention also pertains to similar methods for optimizing the parameters used to increase the sensitivity and the expression quality of the phase contrast radiographic method as well as the image contrast and adequacy. It lastly concerns various embodiments of the above-mentioned device, which enable application of the inventive method, as well as methods and means designed to enable fine adjustment of the optical X-ray circuits.
