Abstract:
Provided is a phase determining device capable of determining phase differences with high precision using digital circuits. A phase determining device (1) comprises a buffer delay determining circuit (110), a phase difference determining circuit (120), both of which use TDCs, and a phase difference calculating unit (12). The buffer delay determining circuit (110) generates, from a highly precise clock signal (CLK) and a sampling reference signal (SCL), a delay determination data (Ds) representative of a delay amount (τB) between the buffers of the TDC. The phase difference determining circuit (120) uses the clock signal (CLK) to generate a number data sequence (Dt) and first and second phase difference determination data (Ds(A), Ds(B)) all of which are representative of the phase difference between signals (SS(A), SS(B)) that are to be determined. The phase difference calculating unit (12) calculates the phase difference using: numbers of state data (NB(A), NB(B)) based on the first and second phase difference determination data (Ds(A), Ds(B)); the number data sequence (Dt); and the highly precise delay amount (τB) derived from the delay determination data (Ds).
