Abstract:
The present invention provides a phase difference membrane which is formed using a liquid crystal compound and in which the Nz factor thereof is more than 0 and less than 1, an optical film including the phase difference membrane, and a display device. This phase difference membrane is formed using a composition including a polymerizable liquid crystal compound having a mesogenic group, the conditions of expressions (1) through (3) being satisfied when the mesogenic group is rod-shaped, and the conditions of expressions (4) through (6) being satisfied when the mesogenic group is disc-shaped, where Sx is the order parameter of the mesogenic group in the in-plane slow-axis direction of the phase difference membrane, Sy is the order parameter of the mesogenic group in the in-plane direction orthogonal to the in-plane slow-axis direction, and Sz is the order parameter of the mesogenic group in the thickness direction of the phase difference membrane. Expression (1): Sx > Sz > Sy. Expression (2): -0.300 < Sz < 0.200. Expression (3): Sx > 0.050. Expression (4): Sy > Sz > Sx. Expression (5): -0.200 < Sz < 0.300. Expression (6): Sy > 0.050.
