Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a phase-variable device of an automobile engine that can smoothly modify the relative phase angle of a cam shaft in relation to a drive rotor. [Solution] A phase-variable device of an automobile engine, comprising a drive rotor supported by a camshaft and rotated by a crankshaft, a first control rotor integrally formed with the camshaft, first turn force-imparting means for imparting relative turn torque in one direction to the first control rotor, and a reverse rotation mechanism for imparting relative turn torque in the reverse direction to the first control rotor, wherein the reverse rotation mechanism is composed of: a first action mechanism provided with a first diameter-reducing guide groove in the first control rotor, a crank member that turns in a position set at a distance from the turn center axis of the drive rotor, and a first pin mechanism that is attached to the crank member and that moves inside the first diameter-reducing guide groove; and a second action mechanism for causing first and second control rotors to turn in a relative fashion in mutually opposite directions.
