Abstract:
Provided is a phase variable device of an engine provided with a highly reliable self-locking mechanism which does not reduce reactivity to occurrence of a self-locking effect and is capable of further strengthening the self-locking effect. The phase variable device of the engine comprises a drive rotator driven by a crankshaft, an attachment angle changing mechanism changing the attachment angle of a camshaft, and a self-locking mechanism preventing a gap of the attachment angle of the drive rotator and the camshaft due to a disturbance torque, wherein the self-locking mechanism has a cylindrical section provided on the drive rotator, an eccentric cam integrated with the camshaft, and a lock plate holding an outer peripheral surface of the eccentric cam via a holding groove formed on the inside of the eccentric cam, and at least four stepwise contact sections in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical section are projected in the radial direction on an outer peripheral surface of the lock plate.
