Title:
PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/039893
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A relatively small and inexpensive phased-array antenna provided even if the number of radiators is increased to enhance the gain. Spacings between the elements are small because of a multilayer structure including layers where a large number of radiators (15), phase-shifting units (16) each for shifting the phase of a high-frequency signal transmitted/received by the corresponding radiator, and a distributing/synthesizing unit (14) are provided respectively. The phase control layer (35) is constituted of as many internal wiring layers as the number of required drive lines (19), and a signal wiring to control each phase-shifting unit (16) is provided on the internal wiring layer. Therefore the areas for the wirings are small and the spacings between the elements are also small. The circuits repetitively provided in the phase-shifting units are constituted of chips integrally mounted on another board.
