Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to implement a phased array antenna which is more inexpensive than conventional ones although usable in a millimeter waveband. A phased array antenna (1) is provided with: an optical modulator (OM) which generates signal light SL by intensity-modulating carrier light CL by a sum signal VIF+LO(t) of an intermediate frequency signal VIF(t) and a local signal VLO(t); and a time delay device (TD) which generates delayed signal light SL'1, SL'2, …, SL'n by applying a time delay Δt1, Δt2, …, Δtn to the signal light SL. Each feed circuit (Fi) generates a delayed radio frequency signal VRF(t-Δti) to be supplied to a radiation element (Ai) from the delayed signal light SL'i.
