Abstract:

This phosphor element is provided with: a supporting substrate; an optical waveguide, which propagates excitation light, and which is formed of a fluorescent material that oscillates fluorescence, said optical waveguide having an output-side end surface for outputting the excitation light and the fluorescence, an opposite end surface on the side opposite to the output-side end surface, a bottom surface extending in the long-side direction of the optical waveguide, an upper surface facing the bottom surface, and a pair of side surfaces; a bottom surface-side cladding layer covering the bottom surface of the optical waveguide; an upper surface-side cladding layer covering the upper surface of the optical waveguide; side surface-side cladding layers respectively covering the pair of side surfaces of the optical waveguide; an upper surface-side reflecting film covering the upper surface-side cladding layer; side surface-side reflecting films covering the side surface-side cladding layers, respectively; and a bottom surface-side reflecting film that is provided between the supporting substrate and the bottom surface-side cladding layer.
