Title:
PHOSPHORESCENT COMPOUND AND ELECTROLUMINESCENT ELEMENT INCLUDING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/048395
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Novel phosphorescent compound provided through synthesis of an ortho metal complex with the use of easily synthesized ligands. Further, there is provided an electroluminescent element of high luminescence efficiency with the use of the phosphorescent compound. Still further, there is provided a luminescent device of low power consumption with the use of the electroluminescent element. In particular, a phosphorescent compound of the general formula, Chem 1, is synthesized, and an electroluminescent element characterized by comprising this phosphorescent compound is formed. [Chem. 1] In order to attain phosphorescence emission with enhanced efficiency, from the viewpoint of heavy atom effect, it is preferred to employ a heavy metal as the center metal. Thus, the phosphorescent compound is characterized in that in the general formula, Chem. 1, the center metal M is iridium or platinum.
