Abstract:
Provided is a dispersion that is adjusted to a pH of 1-6 and contains phosphoric acid or a phosphate salt and modified metal oxide colloidal particles having a particle surface coated with a polymerizable group-containing coating agent. Also provided is a coating composition that uses this dispersion. Provided is a dispersion of a modified metal oxide colloidal particle (C) that has an average particle diameter of 2-300 nm and that has a nucleus of a metal oxide colloidal particle (A), the surface of which is coated with a coating material comprising an Si oxide-containing inorganic oxide colloidal particle (B). One or both of the metal oxide colloidal particle (A) and the inorganic oxide colloidal particle (B) contain at least one different metal oxide. The modified metal oxide colloidal particle (C) is coated with a coating agent, and this dispersion contains phosphoric acid or a phosphate salt and has a pH of 1.0-6.0. The coating composition comprises the modified metal oxide colloidal particle (C), a polymerizable functional group-bearing resin (D), a polymerization initiator (E), and an organic solvent (F).
