Abstract:
The present invention provides a photocatalyst that, with a YTOS composition or a composition in which the yttrium in YTOS is substituted with another element, has markedly improved water splitting ability. Provided is a production method for a photocatalyst having a composition represented by general formula (I), said production method being characterized by comprising a step for mixing, with a raw material for the photocatalyst and at a mass ratio of 0.01-50 times with respect to the raw material, a flux component comprising one or more of an iodide and/or a chloride of one or more elements selected from among Li, Na, K, Rb, Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba, and performing firing at 450-1,050°C.
