Abstract:
Disclosed is a photochromatic element provided with a light guide plate (1) which guides light guided into the inner part thereof from at least one end part to the other end which faces the one end part while outputting the light from the light emitting surface; a light source (2) which outputs light towards the inner part of the light guide member from the abovementioned one end part; and a light control layer (10) which is laminated onto the light emitting surface, and wherein macromolecule dispersion liquid crystals are sandwiched between two facing substrates (11, 14) so as to be oriented in a direction parallel to the light emitting surface and perpendicular to the direction from the abovementioned one end part to the other end. Thus, a photochromatic element with high brightness and high contrast can be achieved.
